I enjoyed modelling the Suunto Spartan Sport watch earlier in the year for some practice/development. When the Instagram #renderweekly design challenge was a watch, I decided it was another good opportunity to practice my concept design, 3D modelling and render skills.

I set out to create a fitness tracker/smart watch, I started out drawing some rough design sketches, firstly using pen an paper, I sometimes try to refine the sketch's further using my surface book pen in sketch book. My goal was to create a high end device with a customisable touch screen, GPS, Bluetooth and heart rate monitor. I also wanted it to be housed in titanium and have simple intuitive controls, a touch screen, turn dial and just one button.

I added a clip on strap mechanism for an easy removable/changeable watch strap, these could be sold separately in many different colours/materials.

Concept Watch- Left side - one button

I was happy with the end result, I feel the pictures offer a good representation of what I was trying to achieve with this concept.

I developed more Keyshot material customisation skills, lighting techniques and this was excellent Solidworks modelling practice.
